Who We Are
Since 1958, the Mental Health Association of Columbia-Greene Counties Inc. (MHACGC) has dedicated itself to improving mental health in our community. MHACGC is a non-profit, professionally staffed organization, overseen by an unpaid board of directors, and graced by a host of committed volunteers. The work of this organization is predicated on a profound belief in the singular potential of every person served, and in the individual’s right to be treated with dignity.
The Association is dedicated to a new vision of care with an emphasis on resiliency and recovery, where children and adults with emotional disturbance and mental illness can live, work, learn and thrive within their own communities. We are creating a strength-based system with respect and hope at its foundation.
The MHACGC recognizes that the synergy created through collaboration with our community partners assists consumers in fulfilling their aspirations. The Association’s ever-expanding programs emphasize rehabilitation, support, treatment, residential, educational and prevention services. MHACGC advocates vigorously, often alongside consumers and their families.
The Association maintains a reference library, open to the public, and community conferences are regularly offered to both professional and laypeople. The entire spectrum of our organization’s endeavors is directed toward serving the mental health needs of our community.
